When the diagnosis is unclear

Begin with a complete eye examination

You do not need to identify the specialty yourself. A comprehensive visit can assess vision, the front of the eye, eye pressure, retina and optic nerve, then direct you to the relevant service or test.

Urgent symptoms

Some changes should not wait

Sudden vision loss, a curtain-like shadow, severe eye pain, injury, chemical exposure or new neurological symptoms requires urgent assessment rather than a routine online booking.

Service FAQs

Choosing the next step

Which eye service should I choose?

Choose a service when you already have a diagnosis or referral. If the cause is unclear, begin with a complete eye examination so an ophthalmologist can direct you to the appropriate pathway.

Is a diagnostic test the same as an eye examination?

No. A diagnostic test measures or images a particular part of the visual system. The ophthalmologist interprets it together with your symptoms, medical history and clinical examination.

Is pediatric eye care the same as ROP screening?

No. General pediatric eye care covers vision development, spectacles, squint and lazy eye. ROP screening is a separate retinal pathway for eligible premature babies on a time-sensitive schedule.

What should I do for sudden vision loss?

Sudden vision loss, a curtain-like shadow, severe eye pain, injury or new neurological symptoms needs urgent assessment. Do not wait for a routine appointment or online reply.
